General
- Reference side highlight
A new feature that highlights one of the sides of the part, throughout the entire process, has been added.
The main purpose of this is to make it more clear for operators to see when the part is flipped over and not. Or to avoid bending mirrored parts.
The side indicated is the same as the reference side, which is also the top side of the flat pattern.
BendSim
- Angle measurement “Learned” method
A third method, called Learned, for laser angle measurement has been added.
This allows re-use of measurement results done on previous bends where the bend characteristics match the current bend. If tooling, angle and bend length match there is no need to measure again as the two bends are “the same”.
This is very useful when you want to achieve faster cycle times, as active measuring takes time, or if the second bend is not possible to measure for some reason.
- Automatic programming of angle measurement
The Learned measurement method is not the only improvement done for the angle measurement functionality. AutoPOL can now also program angle measurement automatically.
With user configurable settings AutoPOL can automatically decide what bends to measure and with what method/type of measurement.
You can decide if measurements must take place, if you prefer to measure or if no measurement should be performed.
These settings can be made based on material type and thickness, so that different preferences can be set based on the need for measurement in different cases.
Maybe you prefer to measure Stainless, but not Mild steel…
Or you want to measure everything above 3mm, but not below…
Or a specific material/thickness combination must always be measured very carefully due to material inconsistency…
To summarize, a very flexible system that lets you set your preferences based on your needs in different situations.
- More control over alternative tool search
For a long time it has been possible to let AutoPOL find alternative tools when the current ones do not work for some reason.
This functionality is quite intelligent and can find solutions, if it is necessary, using several different types of punches and/or dies for different bends of the part. This makes the functionality very powerful, as multiple tool combinations makes more parts possible to bend.
However, some users have expressed that those solutions sometimes are too complex for their capabilities. Mistakes happen more frequently when complex solutions are needed.
For that reason it is now possible to disable the possibility to use multiple types of punches or dies when searching alternative tools.
This of course decreases the number of parts you are able to bend, but that is then a strategic decision made to decrease scrap in manufacturing locations where complex bend solutions can’t be managed well.
- Indication of filmside for Delem DA-6xT controls
On Delem DA-6xT controls, of version 3.6 or newer, it is now possible to have the Filmside shown/indicated.
With this new AutoPOL version that information is included when outputting programs to these controls, if a Filmside is selected.
- Support for Remsoft-FXSoft controls
We are happy to announce that from this version onwards, AutoPOL supports Remsoft – FXSoft controls.
This control is, for example, used by Euromac press brakes.
To get access to this new control, a new activation code is required.
End users with an active maintenance can find their updated code on the AutoPOL Customer Portal.
- Support for Durma Sky22 controls
Another new control that is supported is the one called Sky22 from Durma.
This control also requires an updated Activation code that users with an active maintenance can find on the AutoPOL Customer Portal.

General
- Filmside in apProfile
When creating 3D models using the apProfile file type, which is often done through integration with external software systems, it is now possible to define which side of the sheet is the Filmside.
This can be used to indicate the side of the sheet that is, for example, painted or has a protective film. This is then considered through the entire process and helps ensure a correctly bent final product.
How to set this in the apProfile files is documented in the AutoPOL Help
BendSim
- Support for LVD TOUCH-B controls added
We are happy to announce that from this version onwards, AutoPOL supports the TOUCH-B control from LVD.
This is the control fitted on most of the modern LVD machines, but there are exceptions on some older machines.
To be able to work with AutoPOL, or any other external software, and create programs for these machines there must be an option called XNC enabled at the control.
To get access to this new control, a new activation code is required.
End users with an active Subscription will find their updated code on the AutoPOL Customer Portal.
- Estimation of tool set-up times
For each bending program being created with AutoPOL, the time for loading and unloading the press brake tools is estimated.
Besides these times being presented to the programmer, they are available in the Program properties and can also be extracted using the Industry 4.0 Data Sharing protocol. This is useful, for example, during automatic cost calculation or planning with external software systems.
As the external factors around the machine, such as working routines and types of tool clamping, influence heavily the time needed for various operations around tool set-up, the system can be configured to consider the reality around each machine.

- Import of XML based profile definitions
To better support integration with external software systems used by for example the cladding and roofing industry, the possibility to open standardized XML files describing sheet profiles has been added.
This allows any system to create XML format based apProfile files, containing all the data and shape of a sheet profile, to be opened and processed by AutoPOL. Either manually or automatically using Batch & Remote.
The format of the apProfile files is well documented and is found in the AutoPOL Help for anyone who wish to use this functionality to create 3D models of their profiles, from their own software system.

- Automatic Reference and Film side detection
It is from this version possible to automatically detect the Reference side of the sheet and apply the Film side.
The side can be detected using various methods, for example by color indication or position of the origin.
The settings for this i done per material, enabling different behaviour for different materials and thicknesses.
BendSim
- Bend lines visible in AutoPOL CNC Viewer
Anyone using the AutoPOL CNC Viewer, normally at the machine, will now be able to see the bend lines of the part in the 3D representation.
The lines will be indicated with colors representing up or down bends.
All parts made with the new version will have these bend lines shown in the AutoPOL CNC Viewer. The viewer itself does not need to be updated.
Batch & Remote
- Assembly Filter in Remote mode
The Assembly Filter released in a previous version of AutoPOL can now also be used in Remote mode.
This means that the functionality to filter out, and separate, individual parts from an assembly can now also be used by external software systems. This can for example be ERP and MRP systems.
How to implement this functionality with your own software system is documented in the AutoPOL Help.

Discontinued Windows support
2021-09-24
Several of our technology suppliers have announced that they will discontinue their support for Windows 8/8.1 operating systems.
For that reason, AutoPOL versions released after April 1, 2022 will no longer support Windows 8/8.1 based operating systems.
If you are still using AutoPOL software with these operating systems, we highly recommend that you upgrade to Windows 10 or newer version of Windows.
If you stay on these older operating systems after April 1, 2022, you can continue to use AutoPOL software released prior, but it will not be supported.
FCC Software will not be able to address defects or support items for software running on Microsoft operating systems no longer supported.
New AutoPOL version 03.31.0001
2021-06-15
A new updated version 03.31.0001 of AutoPOL has been released. This version includes new functionality and a few minor improvements/fixes. The major ones are briefly described below.

General
- Support for new 3D file versions added
The currently supported versions can always be found on www.autopol.com/translators, but the new versions added in this release are the following.
Acis: 2021 (R31)
- CAD-CAM Properties
A new feature is the functionality to import, manage and share CAD-CAM Properties throughout the entire process chain.
All of these properties, including File, Part, Program and Custom properties from the original CAD file, can be accessed using the AutoPOL Industry 4.0 Data Sharing protocol.
This is very useful to, for example, integrate ERP/MRP/MES-systems and use that data for automated quoting, planning, verification, etc, etc.
- Model appearances improved
As of this version, it is possible to set the colour behaviour of 3D models in a more flexible way.
What that means is that you can choose to keep the original colour of the imported model, instead of setting it to the default one.
This is particularly useful when working with assemblies, to make the individual parts more distinctive in their appearance.
This can be set individually for the part depending on whether you are in the model or simulation view.
Another possibility that has been added is to set the model colour based on what material it is. This is a great way to, for example, emphasize the material types for operators.
Unfold
- Assembly filter
Based on the properties of parts in an assembly, sheet metal parts can now be automatically filtered out and separated into individual parts. These are then easily processed in the usual way.
Properties of the individual parts such as material, if available, will also be extracted and used. Also the individual part name will be used throughout the entire process to ensure part and data connections are intact.
This functionality is also available to be used with the Batch & Remote add-on. If an assembly is loaded into the Batch Manager, the filter will be applied and the appropriate parts will be added to the list to process.
Users making their own integrations with the Batch & Remote, from their ERP/MRP/MES etc, can also access this functionality and have their assemblies separated using the same technology. For more into on this, see the Help under Batch & Remote – Developer
- Material alias
It is not unusual that the same material can often be named differently. This often causes confusion and makes automatic processing difficult.
In order to overcome this, we have added the possibility to specify Aliases to each material.
These will be used to translate the Alias found in the CAD file to the corresponding material in AutoPOL automatically.
This ensures smooth and hassle-free processing of a broader range of material definitions.
BendSim
- E-Bend L angle measurement
It is now possible to program the SafanDarley E-Bend L angle measuring system with AutoPOL.
The usage of this feature is really simple and all you have to do is select what Method and Type you want to use. For example, the Checked and Quick method and the 1- or 3-point Type.
AutoPOL will then position the sensors in default positions, making sure the laser projections against the flanges are OK. If no appropriate positions are available, they will be highlighted and the user will need to take action.
You can also specify the interval between the number of parts that should be measured. For example, 1 out of 12.
The estimation of extra time needed to do the angle measurement, compared with not measuring, will also be presented in the software and process documentation.
- Amada Operateur controllers are now supported
FCC Software is happy to announce that from this new version we support the Operateur controls from Amada.
This control is available in different versions, which are now all supported by AutoPOL.
To get access to this new controller, a new activation code is required.
End users with an active Subscription will find their updated code on the AutoPOL Customer Portal.
Partners who wish to get access need to contact FCC Software via email and request their new code.
Batch & Remote
- Open externally generated product list in Batch Manager
Batch Manager now has the possibility to populate the list of parts, and make settings for them, by loading an XML based .apImportBatch file created from an external software system.
It might for example be an ERP system creating the apImportBatch file with parts to process with Batch & Remote. This file you can open in Batch Manager and the entire list is populated from it.
Specifications of the apImportBatch file format can be found in the Help under Batch & Remote – Developer.
- Abort process in Batch Manager
Previously it has not been possible, once started, to abort the processing of parts in Batch Manager. This is now possible.
During the processing, just click the Cancel button and the job will be terminated. If wanted, the process can be restarted and will continue where it was stopped.

- Improved calculation performance
New technologies for faster, more optimised collision detection have been developed.
This enables, for example, quicker bend sequencing and tool set-up calculations.
BendSim
- Save and Load Tool Set-ups
With AutoPOL it is now possible to Save and Load pre-defined Tool Set-ups.
This means you can easily store a set-up that you have created, automatically or manually, and then re-use it for other parts. This is managed under the Tooling tab in the Machine Settings.
When loading the set-up, AutoPOL will also position the part at good positions. If no good location is available, for one or several bends, you can manually set the position. Or alter the set-up itself by using the loaded one as a starting point.
As a bonus, we have also added the possibility to re-load the last used tool set-up, without the need for saving, if you have removed it and then want to get that same one back again.
- Reset finger positions
It is now really easy to reset the finger positions back to the default positions calculated by AutoPOL.
You can choose to apply the reset to the current bend, remaining bends in the sequence or all bends.
In the numeric entry of finger positions you simply select the Auto button, shown on the right, and the default position will be set.
- Beam fixtures
Depending on what options you have on the machine, it could affect the appearance of the lower beam, and influence the collision detection.
This could for example be if you have front supports that require additional linear guides. These could then cause collisions that you normally would not get without those mounted.
This new feature makes it easier to maintain correct machine dimensions, and you no longer need to create complete models for each combination of options.
Instead you have the basic beam and then you can combine that with a 3D model for your particular combination of options. This is illustrated on the right where the same beam is shown in two different configurations.
- Punch Extensions for default hemming tools
It is now possible to also include punch extensions when configuring default hemming tools.
This enables the possibility to automatically set a broader range of punch tools when programming parts with hemming.
- Support for Ermaksan Er Touch controllers
FCC Software is happy to announce that from this new version we officially support the ER Touch control from Ermaksan.
This control is available in 3 different versions, Professional, Master and Basic.
All three of them are now supported by AutoPOL.
To get access to this new controller, a new activation code is required.
End users with an active Subscription will find their updated code on the AutoPOL Customer Portal.
Partners who wish to get access need to contact FCC Software via mail@autopol.com and request their new code.

- Tool Summary in Queue Report
When optimizing the production queue, a new section has been added to the report.
This provides a summary of all the tools, and segments, needed to bend that entire list of products.
This is very convenient for the operator who can easily collect all of the tooling required for the entire list of parts, making tool changes even more efficient.
And let’s not forget the positive ergonomic affect of reduced handling of heavy tooling!

- Improvements when searching for alternative tools
The functionality that searches for alternative tools, when the default ones are not suitable, has been greatly improved.
Up until now this functionality has been limited to finding one punch and die combination. Now, multiple tool combinations can be found automatically.
This means, for example, that AutoPOL can automatically suggest using different types of punches for one part if required. The same thing goes for dies also.
That is not all. If flanges that are too short are detected, it will also try to avoid those issues by trying dies with a narrower w-opening.
- Rollbend dies
Rollbend dies are now possible to use in AutoPOL without creating a corresponding normal V-shaped die.
This means that proper collision detection and other characteristics of this type of tool can now be more accurately simulated.
Many rollbend type dies from a broad range of suppliers have been added to the default tool library and are ready for use.
If your specific rollbend tool is not available at this moment, you can easily add it using the built in templates.
- Apply Remaining
Making settings to only the current bend is easy!
But many of the bend settings you can edit, such as finger retraction and y-opening, have also for a long time easily been applied to all of the bends. Just choose Apply All when modifying.
As of now there is also a third option called Apply Remaining available to many of the settings.
What it does is that it will apply the change you do to the current bend, and all the ones after it in the bend sequence. This setting goes from here and all the bends forward, basically.
Maybe not the biggest feature we have developed, but very useful…
- Support for Cybelec VisiTouch controllers
FCC Software is happy to announce that from this new version we officially support the latest control from the Swiss company Cybelec, called VisiTouch.
These controllers are available in 2 different version, VisiTouch 19 and VisiTouch 19 MX.
Both of them are now supported by AutoPOL.
- Support for Step Automation controllers
Another new control manufacturer now supported by AutoPOL is Step Automation from Italy.
Their controllers are currently available in 13 versions under 2 different lines, called CNC Series ROCK and CNC Series SA-TOUCH, and AutoPOL supports all of them.To get access to these new controls, a new activation code is required.
End users with an active Subscription will find their updated code on the AutoPOL Customer Portal.
Partners who wish to get their new activation code, with the new controllers included, needs to contact FCC Software via mail@autopol.com and request their updated code.
Batch & Remote
- Improved Queue reporting
The queue reports can now have more extensive information regarding each program.
This can, for the part itself, be for example the number of bends, part size, cutting length, number of contours and weight.
On the program side you can get more tool set-up related info such as a list of used tool segments, including images of every tool type, for each program.

- Parking of fingers
It is now possible to manually park the fingers in a specific position. This is done by locking the individual axes you do not want to move.
This is handy when you do not want to use them to gauge against, mayby using a laser line, or if you want to do some sort of special operation with a locked position.
The parking function is found where you numerically input the Z/R position and once they are parked, and you keep adding to the bend sequence, they will stay there until you un-park them again.
- Bend step delay
The bend step delay, when the fingers move from the current bend to the next, can now be set on each individual bend.
The delay method can be a time in seconds or the operator activating the step change.
Different controllers support different methods, so the options available is decided by what machine that is currently used.
- Tool management copy function
A new function to copy tool types and segmentation between different tool folders has been added.
This will simplify and speed up tool management, especially when the initial installation is done. But, for example, also when newly purchased tools needs to be added to a user tool inventory from the complete list of supplier tooling.
Batch & Remote
- Pre-Processing added
It is now possible to pre-process the parts in a job list. This means you can easily and quickly extract part info from the 3D files without running the full process.
This information can be for example the thickness, number of bends, part size, cutting length, number of contours and weight.
This information can be used for example in early stage quoting routines or production planning.

- Support for Bystronic controllers
We are happy to announce that from this release AutoPOL now also supports Bystronic machines with their own controllers ByVision Bending and MMC Bybend.
With increased demand for support of these controls FCC Software decided to put the required resources into developing this post-processor, and after intensive development and testing we are happy to release this new functionality. From this release AutoPOL also contains an extensive predefined Bystronic tool library to make implementation of these machines simple and efficent.
- Support for Trumpf Touchpoint controller
The newer Trumpf Touchpoint control is starting to appear more frequently in the markt, which means there is now more requests for AutoPOL to run also those machinies.
As of this new release, the Touchpoint control is also supported. When creating code for the Trumpfs, you can simply choose if it should be adapted for the previous TASC6000 or the new Touchpoint control in the machine settings.

- Import Trumpf 3D BNC files
It is now possible to open Trumpf 3D BNC files.
This means that the 3D model inside the press brake programs created for, or by, the TASC6000 control can opened and processed by AutoPOL just like any of the other 3D CAD file formats.
This 3D model can then be processed by AutoPOL in the normal and new programs be created for also other machines.
- Industry 4.0
External software systems, for example ERP and MRP, can now extract information about parts and bending solutions from the AutoPOL files.
This enables those systems to integrate more deeply and off-line programming information is available for further use in various processes. This can be for example automatic quoting, production planning, order handling etc.
BendSim
- Y-Opening Gap and Mute Point settings
The general machine configuration is slightly improved by now having open and independent settings for the Y-Opening Gap and the Mute Point.
The Y-Opening Gap value decides how much extra opening height that is needed after each bend, and is added to the current flange height.
The Mute Point is the distance how far from the top of the sheet the press brakes changes from approach speed to bending speed.
Batch & Remote
- Updated user interface for Batch Manager
The user interface for the add-on Batch & Remote, Batch Manager, has got a new updated user interface.
It has been adapted to a more standardized Ribbon menu style and the tasks are now separated into different tabs.
In the Program tab you program new parts from CAD files to finished bending solutions and production files.
In the Produce tab you use existing bending solutions to plan your work and prepare for production.
- Program Queue Optimizer
This new feature is available in the Produce tab of Batch Manager and is used to calculate in what sequence the individual parts should be produced to minimize time needed for tool changes.
It is taking into account each individual segment in the tool set-ups for these calculations and based on how long certain operations take, the optimal production queue is calculated.
The result from these calculations will be presented as Queue report in PDF format.

BendSim
- Major performance improvements
Many of the calculation intense core functions of the AutoPOL kernel has been re-written and will see big performance improvements.
These improvements are achieved through optimizing algorithms and multi-threading, where all the CPU kernels are used more efficiently.
Improvement results are not linear and will vary from part to part, but for example the auto sequencing and tool set-up calculations, have shown results only requiring down to 20% of the time for certain parts.
- Forced Retract based on thickness
A new machine setting is implemented that forces the back gauges to always make a retract when the part is over a certain thickness.
It is for example common that you want to do this to avoid thicker sheets lifting the fingers. It is also useful in robotized solutions where doing a retract at every bend is common.

General
- Support for new 3D file versions added
The currently supported versions can always be found on www.autopol.com/translators, but the new versions added in this release are the following.Inventor: 2019
Parasolid: 30.0.x
- Support for high-resolution step bends
It is now possible to define step bends where the number of bends exceed the predictable limit and will be inside the V-opening of the die. This will allow a smoother radius and a more esthetic appearance.
The challenge is that manual correction of the bend angles at the machine will most likely be require, as it will be unable to calcualte a correct penetration depth with previous bends inside the V-opening of the die.
- Automatic step bend conversion
AutoPOL can now automatically convert large radius bends into step bends. The number of bends applied is decided by user defined settings, describing the smoothnes required.
The operation is performed automatically when the flat pattern is calculated, but can also be manually overridden.
- New AutoPOL file format
The AutoPOL .pol file format has been replaced with a new file format called .polp.
As a user there will not be any difference in the daily work, but this new format is improved a lot “under the hood”.
For example it is a compressed file format, resulting in smaller file sizes. It also eliminates the need for external preview files.
The files are also more adapted to store and supply data in environments where connectivity with other systems is required, such as Industry 4.0 and with ERP/MRP systems.
BendSim
- New functionality that limits the part peripheral speed
This new safety feature will automatically limit the ram speed movement during bending so that the part peripheral speed will be within specified limits.
The maximum peripheral speed is set as a machine setting and is of course dependant on part size and tooling.
- Better indication of bottoming
When bottoming is used as bending method it will now be indicated more clearly in both the Info section inside AutoPOL and the Process Documentation.
- Support for the Cone TC15 control
FCC Software is happy to announce that AutoPOL now supports the Cone TC15 control from CoastOne.

Some new small, but very useful, keyboard shortcuts have been added. The keys 1, 2, & 3 on the left hand side of the keyboard are used for switching between Combined 2/3D, 2D & 3D when in model mode.
In bend mode it will be used for view settings of the machine components, just like the 1, 2, & 3 buttons on the lower left in the graphics area.
Additionally the left and right arrow keys are used to move forward and backwards in the bend sequence.
Press release: New AutoPOL add-on for batch processing and integration with automated systems.
2018-04-05
AutoPOL has since its release back in the early 2000´s been a leader in the off-line programming of press brake’s. By releasing this new add-on the software takes another big leap forward to maximize press brake productivity and efficiency.
The all new Batch & Remote is an add-on to AutoPOL. It enables automatic processing of multiple parts and interfacing with external software systems.
Batch processing means that multiple parts are processed by the software automatically.
All necessary tasks are performed without user input, the results are reported back and production data is created.
If any issues occur, for example parts being impossible to bend, they are reported back through the system and the operator can review them.
The Remote part of the add-on is built in such a way that external software systems can instruct AutoPOL to process parts automatically and receive the results back. This makes it possible for existing planning and production systems to interface with AutoPOL and use it for press brake integration.
Benefits/Highlights
– Automatic programming of multiple parts.
– Unattended processing.
– Dramatically reduces programming costs.
– Reports the overall outcome and for each step in the process.
– Easy manual inspection if issues are reported.
– Allows external software systems to control part processing.
This new functionality can be added not only to new licenses but also to existing installations.
For further information on obtaining this add-on to your existing license, please contact your AutoPOL supplier.

- Improved material settings
It is now possible to define material settings for multiple thicknesses within the same material.
This will improve the accuracy of the bend deduction calculation even further, especially for those who work in a broad range of thicknesses
- Bend data exceptions
User defined bend deduction values can be set for certain cases where the general formulas should not apply.
This is very useful in for example odd cases. An example can be where the sheet is force bent into a very narrow die and no general rules of calculation apply.
Then a user specified bend deduction can be set, as a general rule in the system, for that particular combination of Material, Thickness, Angle, Die and Punch
BendSim
- Automatic Bottoming (Coining)
AutoPOL will automatically set the bending method to bottoming if appropriate tools for that are used.
With that option enabled the use of bottoming is fully automated and everything that is affected, such as force, tool load, bend radius, bend deduction and NC code, is set automatically.
Of course you can also set the bending method manually and even use different methods on individual bends.
- Manual sorting of Materials
It is now possible to manually sort the Materials, so they can be grouped or listed according to the users own preference and liking.
- Additional data in process documentation
The process documentation will now include information about the rectangular size of the flat pattern.
- Improved MultiSave
The MultiSave function can now contain dynamic folders, using variables, to be able to more freely decide where the files should be saved.
To give an example, DXF files can automatically be sorted based on Material and Thickness.
Examples of available variables are Date, Material, Thickness, Machine, Import folder and Revision.
- Configurable Retract Safety Distance
The user can now , automatically, influence the safety distance between the finger and the part after a Retract movement is performed.
Press release: AutoPOL GT, press brake off-line programming taken to the next level.
2017-03-27
AutoPOL has since its release back in the early 2000´s been a leader in the off-line programming of press brake’s. A new generation, called AutoPOL GT, has just been released.
The software has undergone major development and improvement and will bring a new ease of use never before experienced.
Having been the pioneers in the early days of press brake off-line programming, AutoPOL has held the position of being the most capable and advanced available. Even when having such high technical levels and advanced features, the user friendliness has always been something operators highlight.
While maintaining and improving the highest technical level, great efforts have been made to raise the user experience even further. The result is this new generation AutoPOL GT setting new, even higher, standards in user experience for off-line press brake programming.
With a heritage in traditional computer environments and the future of hand held devices in mind, the AutoPOL GT has been developed to be what’s often referred to as hybrid software. This means that it is built to be used efficiently with both a classic mouse and modern touch screen devices.
Besides all the user interface improvements there is also a lot of enhancements and additions to the technical functionality and capabilities.
Adapting to use with touch screen devices requires that many features are more automated and scaled down from the users stand point. The spin off effect is that many technical features have been improved greatly to allow use with less user interaction.
The new version is available to existing users with a valid Subscription contract through the AutoPOL Customer Portal and is also delivered to all new users.
To make the transition from previous versions or learning from scratch is easy. There are over 15 different tutorials available in the software help section, all with simple to follow video demonstrations.
“AutoPOL has always been in the forefront when it comes to functionality and user friendliness for press brake off-line programming. With this new generation of the software we are taking that to yet another level. The remarks we get when showing it to both new and existing users is overwhelming. Everybody is so impressed with how easy and powerful it is.”, says Fredrik Holmvik, Product Manager at FCC Software.
